Flooring Options

Prefinished or unfinished – Prefinished wood floors are great for areas with a lot of foot traffic. The sealer protects the floor from wear, and maintenance is simple. Unfinished wood flooring carries a more rustic look and is often installed to match existing floors.
Parquet flooring or wide-plank flooring – This choice comes down to style and taste. The individual members of wide-plank floors are arranged in a classic “running bond” pattern. Like mosaics, parquet wood floors form more complex patterns; herringbone is a popular choice.
Solid compared to engineered hardwood flooring – Solid wood flooring is the classic type often seen in older buildings. Should a refinish be desired in the future, its individual planks are relatively thick and able to withstand multiple sandings. Unlike laminate flooring, engineered hardwood floors still come from trees, but they’re made up of veneers attached to plywood. They’re easier to install, but they are very thin and therefore not as easy to sand as solid hardwood flooring.
